Save The Bay was founded on the community’s desire to protect our most precious resource — Narragansett Bay. We do that by initiating programs that improve water quality and promote balanced use, responding to pollution incidents and threats, and advocating for policies that invest in keeping the Bay healthy. Read our 2006-07 State of the Bay report.Once choked by raw sewage and dying a slow death from industrial toxins, the Bay is vastly improved since the 1970s. Conventional pollution from wastewater treatment plants has been reduced by more than 60%, and toxins in wastewater have been reduced by more than 90%, resulting in the return of marine and wildlife, as well as cleaner water for some. But we still face daunting challenges. Pollution from wastewater, stormwater and power plants continue to put these gains in jeopardy. Within the Bay Community — up at the State House and on the water as the Baykeeper and South County Coastkeeper — Save The Bay strives to increase public awareness on these issues. Our members and supporters give strength to our voice. United, we can fight for the Bay people want. Become a Bay pollution expert.
